Nathan Thomas, 30, of Philadelphia, was charged with felony retail theft and related counts, said Upper Merion police.
Investigators say Thomas and an unknown man ran out of the Gucci store with $29,000 in stolen purses around 10 a.m. on Aug. 21. In security footage released by police, a duo in masks and dark clothes are seen fleeing the mall.
Police said they ran to a getaway car waiting in the parking lot and made their escape. That car was later found in Philadelphia's Brewerytown section, where detectives conducted "surveillance" to identify Thomas, the department said.
Thomas was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 31, and is due back in court for his preliminary hearing on Sept. 11, court records show.
The other suspect is described as a Black man between 25 and 35 with a "distinctive walk and run." He was wearing a black baseball cap with the letter "B," a black sweatshirt, black joggers, and blue sneakers, authorities said.
Anyone who can identify him is asked to call Upper Merion police at 610-265-3232 or submit an anonymous tip online.
